Welcome to Ellis-Briggs. We are a small Bicycle manufacturer based in Shipley West Yorkshire. If your looking for our shop site Click Here, otherwise if your looking for information on our hand built frames and cycles, you've come to the right place.
Since 1936 we have been handcrafting bicycle frames, using traditional methods and skills. From our small workshop in Shipley, West Yorkshire we have built bicycles for many of Yorkshire's best known cyclists. Such as Ken Russell, Bernard Burns, Beryl Burton, Brian Robinson, Arthur Metcalfe, Doug Petty, Danny Horton and Dave Rayner.
We don't build on a production line or in batches, each frame is individually handbuilt for the customer, with all the care and attention to detail that is possible. On average we spend 40 hours on each frame where other lesser builders rattle a frame off in a a day or less!
The only way it is possible to build quicker and cheaper frames is to cut corners. Look closely at any Ellis-Briggs frame and you'll find clues as to where the extra time is spent. See how the lines of the dropouts flow seamlessly into the stays, how finely detailed is our lug work or look in side the bottom bracket shell and see the perfect mitres. The time is spent on the finest of details throughout the build.
Although we are famous for our Ellis-Briggs and Favori racing bikes, now we specialise in Audax, Touring bikes and Fixed Gear / Track bikes, but unlike large manufacturers we can tailor the bike to your needs.
Our website and Flickr gallery are up dated regularly. If you have any queries, feel free to email us sales@ellisbriggscycles.co.uk.
We offer a wide range of services too. We can respray, repair and renovate your old frame. Giving your favourite frame a new lease of life. Unlike other bike shops we have the knowledge, skills and tools to work on older lightweight bicycles.
